This virus has created a global health crisis that has a deep impact on the way we perceive our world and our everyday lives. It has created a sense of doom and fear to travel and the enjoyment of the simple things of life.
For the Commonwealth Writers, 2019 was a very successful year with several literary and cultural events for writers . There were the Saturday meetings at Chapter One Book Store at the University of The Bahamas: The “Gate Way to History” bus tour, “Under The Tamarind Tree Readings” in down town Nassau, Bahamas, ” and the Splash Down Into Writing and Publishing Workshop, “.
Before Covid 19 swept across the countries of the world including The Bahamas, life was relatively normal. Our non-profit organization continued to assists writers in particular our students , preparing them for the future, eventually emerging as skilled creative writers. We also worked diligently on our Film “Pompey A Slave’s Revolt”.
This film has been on the drawing board since June 2nd 2016. We needed $20,000.00 to film the Pilot Scenes, but could find no sponsors or grants.
In February 2020, we began to prepare for the greatest event of 2020, which is the 14th Annual Writing Awards on March 14th, 2020. for adults and students. As time drew near, panic replaced joy for many persons. The Writing Awards were very successful with no thoughts about the pandemic nor the consequences.
It is not business as usual in our town now. But, we must accept the new normal..

I never realized the importance and convenience of having a Word Press Web Site until today, June 9th, 2014.I am in awe at the convenience of adding texts, photos and information at the touch of my Computer keys.
I must admit the stress that is associated with another Company where “The Commonwealth Writers of the Bahamas” have operated a Small Business Account. We have not been able to update our Web site for almost one year due to their Internet Malfunction.
But Patience is a Virtue which has caused me to turn to “Word Press.com” for this service of which I am grateful.
